📜 BidTown Official Auction Rules

Welcome to BidTown!

Our goal is to provide a safe, fair, and enjoyable online auction experience for buyers and sellers. By participating in BidTown auctions, you agree to the following rules and policies.

 

 

1. Membership

  • Members must be at least 18 years of age.
  • By joining BidTown, you agree to follow all group rules.
  • BidTown reserves the right to approve, suspend, or remove any member at any time.

 

 

2. Becoming a Seller

Before listing items, sellers must:

  • Complete the BidTown Seller Registration Form.
  • Agree to these Auction Rules.
  • Agree to pay BidTown a 10% commission on completed sales.
  • Accurately describe all items offered for sale.

Only approved sellers may create auction listings.

 

 

3. Auction Listings

Each auction must include:

  • Clear photos of the actual item.
  • Item description.
  • Item condition.
  • Starting bid.
  • Minimum bid increment.
  • Auction ending date and time.
  • Pickup location.
  • Shipping availability.
  • Accepted payment methods.

Sellers may choose to set a Seller Reserve (minimum acceptable selling price). The reserve amount does not have to be disclosed publicly.

 

 

4. Auction Length

Standard BidTown auctions run for 7 days unless otherwise approved by BidTown Administration.

Auctions end at the exact date and time listed in the auction.

 

 

5. Bidding Rules

  • All bids are legally binding commitments to purchase if you are the winning bidder.
  • Bid only if you intend to complete the purchase.
  • Do not edit or delete bids.
  • The Facebook comment timestamp determines the winning bid.
  • The highest valid bid before the closing time wins.

 

 

6. Seller Reserve

If a Seller Reserve has been set:

  • BidTown may announce when the reserve has been met.
  • If the reserve is not met, the seller has 24 hours to choose one of the following:
    • Accept the highest bid.
    • Lower the reserve and complete the sale.
    • Relist the item.
    • Withdraw the item from auction.

 

 

7. Winning the Auction

Winning bidders must:

  • Contact the seller within 24 hours.
  • Arrange payment and pickup or shipping.
  • Complete the transaction within 7 days unless both parties agree otherwise.

Failure to complete a purchase may result in suspension from BidTown.

 

 

8. Pickup & Shipping

Every listing must state one of the following:

  • Local Pickup Only
  • Shipping Available
  • Local Pickup or Shipping

Unless otherwise stated, buyers are responsible for shipping costs.

 

 

9. Payments

Buyers pay sellers directly.

Accepted payment methods should be listed in every auction.

BidTown is not responsible for payment disputes between buyers and sellers.

 

 

10. BidTown Commission

BidTown charges a 10% commission on all completed sales.

Sellers agree to submit payment within 7 days after the sale is completed.

Failure to pay commissions may result in suspension or permanent removal from BidTown.

 

 

11. Prohibited Items

The following items may not be listed:

  • Illegal items
  • Stolen property
  • Counterfeit merchandise
  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco or vaping products
  • Prescription medications
  • Live animals
  • Firearms or regulated weapons (unless specifically allowed by BidTown and applicable law)
  • Any item prohibited by Facebook or applicable law

BidTown reserves the right to remove any listing at its sole discretion.

 

 

12. Conduct

Members must:

  • Treat others with respect.
  • No harassment.
  • No fake bids.
  • No bid manipulation.
  • No spam.
  • No profanity directed toward other members.

 

 

13. Liability

BidTown provides an online venue connecting buyers and sellers.

BidTown does not inspect items and is not responsible for:

  • Item condition.
  • Payment disputes.
  • Shipping damage.
  • Lost or stolen items.
  • Misrepresentation by buyers or sellers.

Buyers and sellers assume all responsibility for their transactions.

 

 

14. Administration

BidTown Administration has the final decision regarding:

  • Auction disputes.
  • Rule violations.
  • Member suspensions.
  • Listing approvals.
  • Interpretation of these rules.

These rules may be updated as BidTown grows.
